Liza Barrie Liza Barrie is Campaign Director for Global Vaccines Access at Public Citizen, where she works with colleagues and partners to drive advocacy to expand equitable access to lifesaving health technologies and to hold governments and corporations accountable to the public interest. She works with allies worldwide to push for fair pricing, transparency in procurement, and conditions on publicly funded innovation, so that vaccines, medicines, and diagnostics serve people, not profits.

Liza has worked in global health and humanitarian advocacy for more than 25 years, including a long tenure with UNICEF in China and at headquarters in New York, where she worked across programs, policy, partnerships, and communications. As Chief of UNICEF’s Civil Society Partnerships, she directed global engagement with NGOs, faith-based organizations, youth movements, the world of sport, and parliamentarians, helping to build powerful coalitions to advance children’s health and rights. Earlier roles at UNICEF included Chief of Global Media Relations and Senior Adviser on HIV and AIDS communications.

Before UNICEF, Liza was a journalist in Taiwan during the democracy movement, reporting for CNN International, BBC World, Voice of America, and ICRT radio. She studied East Asian Studies at Barnard College and went on to complete a master’s in Journalism at Columbia University.
