GHTC statement on emergency preparedness delivered at WHA

A statement by GHTC and partners urging the World Health Organization and member states to intensify global efforts to develop new technologies to prevent and respond to health emergencies was delivered at the 72nd World Health Assembly. The statement highlights the importance of coordinated action, new investment, and strengthened regulatory systems to advancing new tools to improve emergency preparedness.

GHTC endorses Senate letters calling for robust funding for HIV/AIDS

GHTC endorsed two letters from the Global AIDS Policy Partnership to appropriators in the US Senate urging robust funding for the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief and the Global Fund, as well as HIV/AIDS research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Institutes of Health.

GHTC endorsed letters to House and Senate appropriators from the Defense Health Research Consortium urging continued support for defense health research programs funded through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs in the fiscal year 2020 budget.

GHTC delivers statement on access to medicines at HHS WHA listening session

GHTC delivered a statement at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) World Health Assembly (WHA) Stakeholder Listening Session encouraging the US delegation to support a comprehensive approach to addressing barriers to accessing essential technologies. GHTC welcomed ongoing efforts by the World Health Organization (WHO) to strengthen regulatory systems to accelerate access and urged the US delegation to support the expansion of WHO’s Essential Diagnostic list.
